St. Anthonius Monastery ( XII century). Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Appeared in the beginning of the twelfth century, some buildings have survived to this day. The founder of the monastery was Anthony, a wealthy foreigner comes from Rome. At the altar of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin cleared away the fragments of frescos of XII century. The figures depicted in the complex bends, very realistic. In 1740, in Anthony's Monastery founded Theological Seminary - one of the oldest educational institutions of Russia empire. Now here is one of the offices of the Novgorod State University named after Yaroslav the Wise.
